How can I get flash working in ubuntu?

Another very quick (one command) howto, this will get mp3, dvd playback, flash and java working.

Quite simply, open up a terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), then type sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras.

What does this magical line do? Quite simply it means the following:
Sudo = Run as root (meaning the user can can do almost anything)
apt-get install = Install a package from the Ubuntu Repository
Finally, ubuntu-restricted-extras is the name of the package you want to install, the ubuntu-restricted-extras package is a metapackage (installs lots of other packages), it installs all the stuff ubuntu won’t ship with by default for legal reasons.

Also, If you want a good media player (for videos and audio), you should check out VLC, you can find it under Applications->Add Remove Programs and typing VLC into the search box, also make sure that “All avilable packages” is selected from the dropdown list.
